How Would You Like Your Taco, Senior~

It is difficult to condense all of my observations while in New Orleans for the past two weeks, but this says it all. In the midst of monumental waste and fraud in the "Road Home Program", the minimum one-a-day body count, the convoy to march on Baton Rouge that had radio reporters at 9:00am pick-up sites commenting at 10:00am - Well ya' know how New Orleanians are - when no one but local officials and stragglers boarded, the item of the day was TACO TRUCKS. Yep, Taco Trucks. Somehow, the entrepreneurial spirit and drive that motivates one to equip and cater to a hard working clientele is adverse to the lazy, slovenly ways of the natives and they just won't take it anymore. BAN THE TACO TRUCKS - WE ARE MAD AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!

By the way, we have forgotten just how much they suffer and that they are still the powerhouse of the state economy and deserve as much tax money as they can coerce from us rural folk since they contribute more to the state than anyone else.

ARROGANCE WITH YOUR HAND OUT sums it up Mr.'s Nagin & Jefferson

FROM THE TIMES PICYUNE

THEY SURE HAVE A LOT TO CONCERN THEMSELVES WITH.

Another one of the visible signifiers of the post-Hurricane Katrina era -- the taqueria trucks with a primary customer base of Latino construction workers -- soon might fade from the scene in Jefferson Parish as officials weigh tighter regulations for businesses that operate from temporary stands and vehicles.

The Jefferson Parish Council, which has already gone after other Katrina symbols, such as travel trailers and storage units, as part of its effort to restore normalcy, is scheduled Wednesday to vote on new rules that would make operating food carts from the same location for more than 30 minutes much more difficult.

"These temporary businesses, they reflect the immediate, post-Katrina atmosphere," said Parish Councilman Louis Congemi, who is leading the push against the food stands. "We're trying to get away from that."

This has nothing to do with tacos.. I was curious in regard to the next step Mayor Roy might take in light of majority council bullies being behind closed doors..writing their letter to stop airing that particular segment. c.c.

I don't understand Roy's call to arms. He has all the ammo he needs to neutralize the council and it's minions and he ought to use it.

It is widely known, in government circles the majority council members have been secretly meeting for maybe 6 years.

Are people afraid to stand-up against these bullies because they are black and they can call in the NAACP. If they are doing wrong, they should take it like a man... we are all equal.

The NAACP is so out of touch with the needs of black America. It has handicapped their view of right and wrong. This organization should be focusing on the needs of the youth, not resurrecting the KKK mentality.

I would go door to door taking names for a petition to oust them.
They have caused enough damage.

When is the next election? Is it two or three to be on the ballot?

Grief....I need a cause.

Carolyn,
A petition is not needed. Our city charter provides for removal from office by filing suit in the court of proper jursdiction by any natural person that is a constituent of the city. One person can get it done if they make the case that they have overstepped their bounds. Video footage and the letter would more than likely be proof enough for cause of removal.

Thanks, great news. C.C.

In todays TT re: over-crowding in jails is nothing new here in Rapides Parish. And ROR would be very frustrating for policemen.

But the solution of writing a citation for a felony....IMHO seems like it cause more problems.

1. Citizens (victims)would be outraged for a slap on the wrist.

2. Policemen chasing a felon, getting spit on etc.. then the felon will say "Okay, hurry up and give me my citation.

I could go on and on.... any thoughts on this problem? C.C.

Would you rather spend the money on jail beds than schools and hospitals. Its nothing that can't be solved by lots of money. I wonder what the sheriff is doing with the extra millions his tax generates?

Mayor Roy's statement in the TT sounds as if he is going to try to work things out with the bullies!

Spanky, you said it takes one person to make the case, from all the evidence. Well? Who. C.C.

The problem in a nutshell:

"Spanky, you said it takes one person to make the case, from all the evidence. Well? Who. C.C."

Folks like you guys who will stick their nose in but won't stick their neck out. . . .

Well who then? nutshell,

I would be glad to stick my neck out..I'm used to be screwed--over. Problem is I do not live in the city.

There is just to many cowards in the city. No one will stand up and do what is right. C.C.

New Orleans isn't in Jefferson Parish. Whatever. Even if you weren't from Louisiana, you should have been able to find a map of the state, or at least the metro NOLA region.

The representative for most of JP (and parts of New Orleans, including my street) is Bobby Jindal, not Dollar Bill. A little research would go a long way!

If black citizens of Jena were summoned for jury duty and didn't show up why were bench warrants not issued for the arrest of their sorry asses??? There's the other travesty in all this...

Ray,
Of all the incompetant screwed up crap that you folks have going on in your area, It struck me as odd that the big furor at the time I was there was the taco truck. We "rural folk" as ya'll like to refer to us, mainly have the opinion that your importance is overated and your priorities out of whack. Yet you guys let your politicians unabashedly whine about needing ever more money while not being able to account for what has been received. The point of my comments were to contrast public priorities across the spillway from us. From my point of veiw, legislative power has been concentrated in your area for way too long and it is my hope that the population shift will weaken the influence from that part of the state. For example, while many of your neighbors find it perfectly normal for Tom Benson to receive huge subsidies for the Saints for personal enrichment at taxpayer expense, I find it abhorrent. The Saints deal is just another example of the sense of entitlement and superiority that your area has expressed over the years to the rest of the citizens of the state. The talk of the divide in the state betweeen New Orleans Metro area and the rest of us Louisianians has come from your area. Never mind the outright contempt shown to us because it's all about ya'll. At least it used to be.

At some point I had hoped that sanity and cooler minds would prevail but alas I was proven wrong yet again. This mess in Jena has gotten out of hand and I keep wondering who is to blame, the media, blacks, whites, NAN, NAACP? All the above?

I guess when 6 people beat unconscious ONE person we're supposed to let it go. If 6 blacks had beat a single black into unconsciousness would anyone care? If 6 whites had beat a white into unconsciousness would anyone care? People who are making this all white jury such a big deal, the media and blacks, should also make a big deal out of the fact that blacks were summoned to jury duty and failed to show up but were not arrested for it!!!

I don't understand these "protesters" having unlimited time to hang around the courthouse and declare all this crap. I love justice too but I have to go to work everyday because I also like food and electricity.

I believe the media plays into the hands of the race-baiters such as NAN and the NAACP. If not for the one-sided story of the tt and kalb I don't think there would have been such a stir. SIX people beating ONE person into unconsciousness is a crime in ANY country. The TT story said nothing about the blacks who were summoned for jury duty and didn't bother to show up and weren't arrested!

Anonymous said...

I agree the media can and always will stir up racial problems.
I'm amazed people are just now noticing!

If people do the crime they must do the time. They are equal....
...until they get caught. Then nellie bar the door.

It is sad that society has created this monster. C.C.
